Great River has its flaws, but overall it has been a good school. I came to great river as a very shy student and each year GRS has helped me become more confident in myself. One major issue, was that in my freshman and sophomore years I fell off track in a really obvious way ( I went from a mostly A student to a C, and D student). My entire friend group at the time was not doing well, to the point where other students would come up to us to ask if we were ok. But none of the faculty tried to help any of us. As a senior now I really regret not trying harder to get good grades, and I think if more teachers had reached out I would be in a different place now. Although they didn't help me personally, they do their best to help, but only when approached. I feel comfortable talking to most people, which I thought would never happen. The academics are also good, although the math classes could use some attention. The teachers are kind people, who genuinely love their jobs.

Ah, Great River. All hail Maria Montessori, our lord and savior. Child labor builds character. Service. Restitution. Tami. Nelson. Michael Flood. Going on walks in the middle of January to go to the woods and talk about plants. The metro transit bus system.
I would rate it 10/10, would never do again, an experience like no other and simultaneously the best place I have ever experienced. I'll remember you all in therapy.
Really welcoming environment, great academics, and very supportive teachers. Not great diversity however, the school is a bit of a bubble. Since it's so small there's not many extra-curricular activities offered, although students can start clubs if they want.
