Great student to faculty ratio. The teachers and staff really make every attempt to make sure you understand the lessons, they offer after school tutoring, free-period lessons, and really to above and beyond to take care of their students.

From athletics, extracurriculars, and the wide array of choices for electives; the choice is really on the students hand. GNS offers a wide selection of languages, Latin, Mandarin, Hebrew and ASL ( to name the more unique ones). You are Truro you given every opportunity to succeed and the alumni really show you that they've taken every step towards facilitating the success of their future.
Review Great Neck South High School
Its a great school and you can be very successful from it. People in this school with a poor socio-economic background in this school might suffer in terms of fitting in with classmates and participating in clubs and activities due their cost. However, the competitiveness in this school is great and people have great morals making it a very safe environment. The selection of sports is great but our teams lack/ are decent in performance because of the major focus in academics. Teachers are usually in the norm of supportive and are 99% of the time understanding of legitimate problems a student might have.
South high offers outstanding academics (although some teachers are subpar). In terms of standardized tests scores, our school is not one to fall behind. The curriculum for many classes is changing to become more common core-based and generally they're created to parallelize standardized tests. The scheduling process isn't that stressful as long as you meet your guidance counselor on time and make it clear which classes you want/do not want to take. Workload will significantly differ based on the rigor of the classes you take and also how much emphasis your teacher puts on homework. There are special study options such as one-on-one extra help after school and of course the study center where you can visit whenever you're free to receive help for various subjects from the teachers there. When we're just looking at the educational benefits, South is all the way up there. The school definitely puts its best efforts into making sure every student's academic accommodations are met and there's no doubt that South can offer phenomenal education.
