I loved the teachers and their willingness to always help the students. As a student myself, I always felt nervous asking for help but after the first few times I realized that the teachers were willing to give me whatever I needed if I just went to them. I would like see a little more school event take place, such as coffee house, and more opportunities to express school spirit! I understand that we are a charter school, and we have strict rules, but the students still want to express school spirit! I also wished the college counselors were more involved in helping the students. They held many workshops but the material they covered was stuff I could’ve found online.
I have gone to this school since Freshman year, and this is genuinely the best school I have been to. I have learned so many skills, such as, better speech, time management and courage. The teachers are amazing and very personable. Every teacher I have had, has put in the effort to positively impact my life and get to know me. The learning environment is nothing like I have seen before. The teachers inspire the students to want to learn and to find genuine interest in learning. Overall, this school has had a positive impact on my life and I am so glad I was able to experience such an uplifting school.
I definitely got an above-average education at SPA in some subjects, such as writing, philosophy, and the arts. The math and science programs were average to below average. However the curriculum focuses on European art and literature to the point that it seems purposefully narrow-minded. Additionally, the homework load was pretty extreme for high school. Overall I feel like I got a couple advantages in college from going here, like writing essays, but in other ways I feel like I'm average or at a disadvantage, such as math.
