The majority of the teachers are nice and like to help students when it comes to achieving their goals in the classroom. The sports program is pretty competitive and has a variety of sports to choose from. I'm hoping that minority inclusiveness and ethnic diversity will improve in the future. Remote learning is pretty tricky and isn't as intensive and engaging as in-person. There well enough of a variety of clubs and activities. The majority of students, parents, and I agree that there is poor judgment when it comes to handling issues generally, which can also be said for the Grandville district as a whole. Readiness for the future like college and career planning is overall pretty good. The music program is pretty good, many outstanding achievements were made by those involved. It's fun to get involved with school spirit events and the skies the limit when it comes to achieving your goals at Grandville High School. I am overall proud to be a Bulldog!
To start off with a good note, the facilities are super nice and has great-quality athletic programs. Teachers are hit and miss, just a handful of teachers aren't good while others are exceptional. The diversity is the weakest part of this school, with majority of kids being white. The kids here are pretty pretentious and vast majority aren't very accepting of new people. I've always had issues trying to fit in while the cliques run rampant here. There also seems to be an issues with bullying, so if you don't come with pretty good amount of money and don't (for example) go to Florida 2 times a year, you'll feel like an outcast. Bigotry is very common here as well, with many kids being rude about knowing other people's beliefs vs theirs. The choir program is losing more and more interest from kids which is quite sad. Even though I had amazing teachers throughout my years here, there are many barriers held up here for those who aren't in the majority of the demographic here.
During the Covid-19 pandemic the admin and staff did there best to try and keep grandville a positive environment. They wanted to do there absolute most on giving seniors the last they couldn’t have. Such as still working to orchestrate senior graduation, prom, mock elections, and more. They went above and beyond. They also organized a Friday night lights themed school wide drive by in honor of my class of 2020. Though we weren’t all able to be there together to graduate on our graduation date as a class one last time. We got to see our teachers from elementary-highschool wave and congratulate us one last time. Grandville a admin and staff has done a great job in keeping the community safe, happy, excited, and showing the true meaning of GRIT and perseverance as we all battle through this hard time of Covid-19. Thank you grandville. #foreverabulldog!
