Head of School Welcome

I am often asked what sets Grandview apart from other schools. My answer usually centers on the fact that a GPS education truly is a personal endeavor.

Education in the modern world requires attention to the individual learner. At Grandview, our school size & the personal relationships among students, faculty and families guarantee that no one is lost in a crowd.

GPS students develop strong leadership skills because leadership grows from confidence. Confidence grows from practice. Practice begins with participation. Our students participate in all aspects of school life, taking intellectual risks, challenging themselves in an effort to grow.

At our school we take everything personally. We are creative thinkers defined by passion. Our success is not marked by quantity but quality. We know each other & we believe that together we build our future.

We invite you to talk with us about how you can become a part of our community.

Grandview has been a big part of our lives for the past 5 years! So very happy we found it - our daughter is getting a great education in a kind, loving environment. Their performing arts and music programs are amazing and they drive learning deeper by allowing students to personalize their education with innovative projects. I wish Grandview had been around when I was in school!

I have truly enjoyed my time at Grandview. Teachers are supportive and helpful, and care about each student. I personally overcame my fear of public speaking because of Grandview's supportive community. I have loved the chance to make exciting, interesting projects on advanced topics to learn the material with far more depth than in a regular classroom. I've worked on projects outside of my comfort zone, such as building a six-foot-radius mosaic (and installing it with the help of our incredibly-kind maintenance), going to California to talk to scientists at the NASA AMES Research Center about Astrobiology, making a storm mitigation system model, writing a paper and and creating a model for a possible solution to plastic pollution using biomimicry, creating a conservation plan for an endangered local species, and being a part of a mock Supreme Court. I actually look forward to going to school because it is not about testing and memorizing, it is about learning and innovating.
Grandview fosters creativity, community service, and academic success. Grandview offers unique, student-centered programs meant to inspire learners, a safe, nurturing, and challenging program for Early Childhood and Lower School students, an emphasis on character development and service, a nationally recognized arts program with classes offered in visual and performing arts, a top-ranked athletic program boasting the area's best coaches, and a personalized college counseling program with graduates accepted to top-tier colleges and universities nationwide.
