Although my neighbors in our agricultural community of Grandview, Washington are Latino like me, there is a disturbing structure within our culture that divides and criticizes anyone who is slightly different. From an outside view people often see this school and assume it's a school in Southern California or in Texas but we're from a small town in Grandview Washington. My experience at this school is average, I am appreciative for the friendships I've created but like in life there are circles and higher powers who bring unfairness to a group. The Dress Code, Biases, and flat-out racism from staff is mind blowing. How can you teach at a school with a 90% Latino population and treat students like charity cases. The principals have been White and wont ever truly understand what the student body deals with.
What I like about Grandview is that there are lots of opportunities to get involved at the school from sports, clubs, etc. There is always something to be a part of. But there are a lot of changes that could be made to the school. There is not a lot of support from the administration and teachers. Some care about students while others don't. Also, the culture of the students could improve as well. Many students get treated horribly and there is nothing done about it. It would be nice for the school to change in the way that it is being run. More staff could improve on helping students. Students don't have the support needed to be successful in and out of school. Also, the lunch could improve as well. Many times you are left with some bad choices. Another thing that is good about the school is the facility is brand new and everything is up to date since the school was recently built.
the school is great, the teachers more! They give you many opportunities for you to achieve a good grade, they have many opportunities for studies and sports, they help you a lot in terms of education, only that I had a bad generation, well, like every school I think. I received discrimination for being Mexican
