This school definitely prepares you for college! However, it's also VERY demanding, and the students are very hard to control. Students are frequently fighting or swearing in the halls-- a lot of the times this is seen by teachers but never addressed. There have been some major safety concerns that the school has poorly informed parents about in the past year, as well. The lunches are awful, almost always either overcooked or not thawed completely. However, overall it is a pretty decent school. The workload is intense, but it does prepare you for college. As long as you are doing what you're supposed to, teachers don't typically pick on you, and you'll get all of your work done.

Grand River Prep is a great school! I have been here for four years and wouldn't trade it for the world. The teachers are easy to connect with and understand because they are fairly young. The academics are rigorous, but the challenge of AP classes are worth it if you take them seriously and pass the AP exam. There are a lot of electives and sports that are offered and these are great ways that the student body connects to create community. Overall the atmosphere of the school is inviting with students of many backgrounds coming together to make a great place for learning
Grand River is a good option for those who live in the Grand Rapids school district and are looking for a better option. However, the school is lacking in many areas that has made my experience less than satisfactory. The students show a high rate of apathy towards most extracurricular events due to a lack of school spirit. This is due to how we feel about one another. We are a diverse population, but we are not united. There is a lot of resentment for the school staff as well as other students. In such a diverse population, it is hard to find people who are like-minded (which is important!). Because I have not found people who are like me, due to the smaller, yet more diverse, population, I have not enjoyed high school at all. I loved middle school when I had an amazing group of friends who cared about me. But at Grand River, everyone only cares about counting down the days till graduation. We've become good at pretending like everything is alright here, but in all honesty: it sucks.
