They have many great programs and opportunities such as KCTC and dual enrollment and even college classes. The teachers there are really great and understanding. Competition between sports and physical activities is really great as well if you mess up in an activity they don't shoot you down and just congratulate you on your attempt. But the majority of the students there aren't the best let's just leave it at that.
So my experience at Grand Rapids University Prep Academy was a long experience and i have been there since 6th grade and now i'm a senior here at Uprep.
I have been at Uprep since 6th grade and I am currently a senior. Uprep is very different from other schools in both positive and negative ways. I love the small classroom sizes it gives the students more one on one time with their teachers. I also enjoy most of the staff because they go out of their way to teach the curriculum in fun engaging ways. I also like all of the opportunities we are giving starting in the sixth grade with reverse job shadows. Also making time to have mental breaks after PSATs or big test like in 8th grade when students who met the requirements were allowed to go to camp. I also think we are a very unique school because starting in 6th grade all the way until you graduate you have to do a presentation twice a year on what you have learned in each core class and what you plan to do to improve. The only negative I have is that we do not have a gym, auditorium, or a traditional library. I think these things will only make our school better.
I like that school is really preparing you for college. The environment is great and the staff is always willing to help.
The Teachers that work at this school are very kind and speak to you like a real adult. They help you make you get ready for the next step of your education or life and they don't judge you what decisions you make.
Here at Grand Rapids University Academy, I have received an excellent education to prepare me for college. The teachers are excellent and it offers many helpful programs to help me get ahead in life, the only thing keeping it from five stars is the students and stress.
This school is such a wonderful place to learn. Before going to this school I was not even thinking about college let alone prepared for college. Thanks to this school I can’t wait to go to college.
overall i had a great experience. they always kept us on our feet and got us ready for college. we were given various tasks like presenting and taking a lot of test to help us get ready for college. one thing i would like to see change in how involved we all were with each other. student to student. student to teacher. i feel like we all could have connected more.
I loved going here it was the best four years!! I started in 9 and graduated from here I Madeline lots of friends and the teachers were very helpful ! One thing I didn’t like was there is no gym and no high school sports !
The building is very nice , although some students do not take advantage of that. The teachers are very caring , but I feel that that assignments should be challenging.
The teachers are very understanding and helpful. Every time I have gone through personal problems at least one staff member has offered help.
I love the way teachers are willing to help their students by staying after school to give extra help and support, even if their busy. Whenever I needed the extra help, I knew I could count on my teachers to help me. Although this is my last year, I will never forget the amazing people I encountered in this school. GO UPREP!!
There good for students who need extra help outside the classroom.
The teachers are the best in what they do, and I am glad to have had them.
I like the school and appreciate the guidance for children to focus on attending college! I didn't go to college and I am not sure of the resources available or necessary to do so- therefore this school is ideal for me.
Personally, I am part of the GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) as well as Robotics, and I know for a fact that there are sports programs as well as various other after-school programs that students can be involved in.
Bullying isn't tolerated at all, and generally punishment is swift.
