Grand Ledge has a ton of academic opportunities like dual enrollment, testing out and AP classes. However, it sometimes feels like these are hidden away. You really have to look for them and track people down to take advantage of them. On the plus side, once you figure it out by yourself, the staff will do their best to accommodate you. Just be ready to do the research yourself.
I like the atmosphere much better than a competitive environment (like Okemos), because you don't have to fight for academic opportunities. If you're a good student, you won't find much competition here, which means you can come out on the top.
BTW- as a brown person, there is almost no diversity here. If that's important to you, consider a different school. Everyone at GL is white.
There are a lot of class choices. Anything from drafting, to parenting, to digital programming and core classes. Most teachers there are very supportive both academically and personally. One thing I would change about the high school is their bullying protocol. I have not had any personal issues with this, but I've seen it in the halls and the parking lot. We need more people that students feel comfortable talking to about these situations.
