While the school faculty/students had a lot of school spirit, the school did not give the students a lot of room to choose their classes. Specifically, the first opportunity to take an AP class--without a specific recommendation from a teacher--was for AP World History during Sophomore year. This compromises applications to Colleges because of the lack of an advanced courseload. Colleges want to take students who take challenging classes and show proficiency. This clearly puts students at this at a disadvantage when the majority of students only had access to 1 AP class for half of their high school career. Also, history classes only became available after freshman year. So they were additionally at a disadvantage from the gap year, where they most likely would forget the history they learned from years prior. However, the school did have very kind and intelligent teachers, who in Honors and AP, taught a challenging curriculum. The Art Department was very talented!

At first before I joined GK, I was a major introvert and had a little hard time making friends, and honestly my view of the world was very narrow. I never thought things like culture or diversity until I became part of the GK community. Although there are a few....disagreements between the student body, those are mainly freshmen getting used to their surroundings and don’t even happened often, pretty rare like once every 2 months-3. However, the student body is also very welcoming to new types of people either it be gender, sexuality, race, or religion. There is a place for everyone in GK to enjoy themselves and discover new parts of themselves. For me I got into Magic the Gathering and Jewelry Making as a hobby because of the classes and clubs this high school offers. The teachers are also very encouraging to strive our best selfs. In general, I’m glad I have chosen this school to attend, because I became a new me I never knew possible, a outuvert with confidence and smiles.
I had the best freshman year possible I had fun and I loved many teachers and the environment they set. The teachers are very welcoming and they want you to succeed and will do anything to make you pass with your highest potential grade. I had a good experience with my first year I had lots of help from my teachers which was the reason why I have a 3.975 right now. I got an A- which not very proud about because I cant get a 4.0 anymore. But with my hard work and the Graham Kapowsin Staff I already brought it up. This trimester I worked very hard and my lowest grade was 98% my teachers take a big part of that with there help and fast responsiveness. I plan on keeping all my grades at a high A for the rest of my wonderful experience at Graham Kapowsin. The school has great football, wrestling, volleyball, band, choir and orchestra and were planning on always expanding to make our school unstoppable with all our activities and sports being at the top of the list and make smarter students
