Academics were definitely not the best, with highly disorganized teachers and very few that stood out to students and genuinely did a good job in the classroom. The only department that genuinely stands out is the English department-- with talented teachers, that are genuinely not treated well by the administration whatsoever. The administration often targets certain extremely talented teachers, while paying no attention to the lazy ones. Nonetheless, the school needs a lot of work. Don't send your students here if they're a part of the LGBTQ+ community, as the administration also has some obvious biases to work through.
The school overall needs to reform its policies and administration. The bathroom policies are absolutely ridiculous and there often is no soap for hand washing. The teachers do their best to teach but there is too much of a focus on getting the schools grade up. The school doesn't really care about preparing their students for college or a career. The administration often puts students down for dreaming too big and being unrealistic. The school also needs a lot of physical work done. There's been issues with mold, rats, and bathrooms overflowing with water during all of my four years there. There are even ceiling tiles that have fallen on students due to water damage. For students with asthma or allergies, this is an awful environment to be in for hours at a time.
Grace King is a great place to start your educational career as a teacher! In my opinion it is one of the better schools in Jefferson parish.
