What I liked the most about TJ was the people. One of the greatest aspects about the teachers, and administrators is their sense of determination. If you are failing, your teachers will provide you with resources to get better. The administrators care about succeeding enough that they built in a study session during the day which allows you to request or to be requested by a teacher for help in their class. The students were alright though not overly amiable, how can you be when your wall-to-wall in the hallways! Despite that most students were friendly and always busy with something
As for activities, there is always something going on be it in sports, academic clubs, art groups, NJROTC, or some other club. Overall, its a good school with amazing teachers and staff and number of good resources to help students toward success if they apply themselves.

My experience at Gov. Thomas Johnson High school was colorful yet simultaneously lackluster. The school culture and students made for ever eventful days but the sports culture and select teams (ahem football) didn’t allow for the stereotypical high school FNL experience. The academics were overall pretty good. I took mostly APs my Junior and Senior year and the teachers of said APs were always very educated, informed, and fun to be around honestly. Overall, I would give TJ 4/5 stars and I hope in the coming years they finally get that turf field.
There is a lot of school spirit and the school is very acceptable in terms of diversity and gender. The teachers really care about the students and try to make them successful. The counselors do a good job getting everyone ready for college. There are many programs and other workshops available for students to learn more about college. The athletics program is great and the teammates treat everyone with respect. Most of the teams go to the playoffs or even finals. The school is very safe because during my time, no one has broken in and there are guards around the school at all times. The music and arts are a big part of the school. The marching band won state titles many years in a row. There is also a lot of energy and effort put into that section. There are many clubs people can join and feel welcomed. Everyone treats you with respect and you feel at home every time you are in the school.
