It’s pretty okay. A lot of the teachers are nice, and because of the the small student population, you get to know them well. The band and theatre programs are wonderful and perform very well. If you play a string instrument, there is no orchestra. However, the band director is amazing and very accommodating as I’ve played with the band for years.
Academics are good. I recommend honors and AP classes. Most teachers accept late work, and are good about helping students understand the material.
The town and the school are small, so you get to know a lot of people which can be a blessing and a curse. But overall, I’ve enjoyed going to school here, and there’s a good variety of classes and extracurriculars.
However, if you want to pursue sports in your future, I wouldn’t recommend GCHS. We don’t do well in many athletics, especially football. But the soccer team is good, and almost won state the past season.

I like my school because I have the opportunity to be seen by others around my school, rather than being overshadowed in a bigger school. I admire my principal because he takes his time to get to know the ones that come up to him and hears what we have to say. He also asks for our opinions and what we would like to see more of in our school. As a student representative of my school, I cannot think of a principal that has connected with the students better than our principal. Something that our school could work on is the appearance of our school and safety. I had a bad experience during my junior year and have not felt safe since then. I do feel that the students have a part to do with the fact I do not feel safe, fortunately now there are officers that are present at the school everyday. Our school appearance could also use some work and the environment in which we study. As my last year of high school comes to an end, I hope to see change in our school spirit throughout the school.
My experience at Gordon Central High School has been great so far. I am a junior at Gordon Central and I will be graduating in 2021. Gordon Central is not like any other high school. GC is a welcoming, supporting high school with great administration and home welcoming students. Gordon Central may have its flaws but as a school, as a team, we work together to make it right. My principle, Brian Hall, is an alumni at Gordon Central. Mr. Hall walked the halls during his high school career and he loved and enjoyed every minute of it. That experience he had, I wish and hope to have before I leave my school and continue the next chapter of my life. We will love and cherish these moments, and we will never forget who guided us to the end of the next chapter in our lives! Thank you Gordon Central High School for giving me the best experience so far and it's not quite over yet!
