This a great school. The Head of School, Dr. Julie McLeod, is warm, approachable, and a leader with a vision. She speaks with the students about compassion and the importance of dignity. The teachers are fantastic. The Spanish department in the Middle School is outstanding. One particular teacher who I believe heads the department has managed to work wonders for children coming in with no previous Spanish. He is so motivating and supportive that the children learn about 3 years of Spanish in 1 and are basically caught up. He gets out his guitar, uses media / video and other methods to engage the students. That's his magic. Many of the teachers go the extra mile to enrich students experiences, while they also provide rigorous academics.

Academics are rigorous, but very nurturing environment where the teachers genuinely care about the kids. Students are taught to be self-advocates.
They offer COE (Classroom of the Earth) camping trips for each grade, and place strong emphasis on Spanish language. There is a language immersion Costa Rica trip in the summer for students entering 7th and 8th grade.
Good Shepherd was recently most generous in disaster relief: water and supplies gathered, driven down in the trailer, and meals were served, and taking in 40 Hurricane Harvey evacuee students temporarily until they could be placed in other schools.

The only complaint we have is that the cafeteria food is not as good as what they serve at some of the other private schools who use Sage.
Amazing learning environment. Quality educators, academically challenging, warm loving family environment with strong emphasis on character building and Christ like values. We love calling GSES our home 💖
