The community in Gloucester is extremely tight-knit. It feels like you're surrounded by family everyday. Many students often get good grades, despite putting in little effort to academics. You learn only as much as you want to work for. Teachers are often easy-going and most students take advantage of this. AP and honors classes have much more engaged teachers than some of the "lower" courses. There is little organization and communication between the guidance counselors and students when it comes helping get information to colleges on time. The school has decent sports teams despite being smaller compared to most of its opponents. School lunch is nothing to brag home about and the lines are very long. The recently built field is very nice, however the track is starting to become distorted because the foundation was not built correctly.

The quality of education at GHS is impressive: I'm satisfied with the curriculum in most subjects, and so far I haven't had a teacher who doesn't have a visible passion for their job and students. I've also enjoyed the diversity of subjects at GHS; it's not every day you see a school that offers classes in graphic novels and women's literature. Also - and while I don't use these myself - I am glad that GHS offers vocational courses to those who want to go straight into the workforce. It's good that the administration is considering the different needs of the student body.
I would like to see more funding toward the art and theatre departments, as they are comparatively overlooked. I would also like the administration to look into the possibility of some kind of study period; I feel that, given both the workload that students have and the fact that many of us are involved in extracurriculars, this would aid in productivity.
I loved the preschool program, gave me the opportunity to find out my passion for teaching. I also enjoyed the multiple options gloucester offered for sports teams. I loved the basketball program and it heavily involved parents and volunteers to keep the team running. The academics at gloucester are average, the building is a little old and could use some fixing. Expecially the gym. Overall my experince at ghs was a positive experience and I would love to go back and do it all over agin.
