Global Leadership Academy in the Mapleton school district is a small school with lots of heart. The teachers care about seeing you succeed in high school and beyond. The facilities and extra curricular activities are not the best but there are other great ways to get a head start on life. I especially liked the opportunity for students to take community college courses during high school hours or after school, completely paid for with books. Overall it is a great school and proud to have graduated from here.

The quality of the building itself is very bad. It's more than 50 years old and the aging of the building is noticeable. Although the building is very bad, the teachers are always their to lend a helping hand. They might not be qualified teachers but, they want you to succeed. Our technology is improving, as we have received some iPads and laptops from a recent grant. This however isn't enough for the students in our school. Our guidance counselor is tremendous! Allison Lucero Hoffman has helped the graduating percentage grow every single year. She really helps and encourages students to apply to colleges and she actually gets them in. Parent involvement is one of the worst qualities this school has to offer. Since the majority of the students live in a Spanish speaking house-hold, the parents don't even bother to come to parent meetings or after school activities.
The academics here at Global Leadership Academy are really great. For example, in my Anatomy class we get to dissect pigs to look at the different body systems, which are very similar to ours. All the classes here are challenging, yet beneficial. This school makes you think a different way because the goal for the school is to create positive leaders for our world's future. In social study classes the focus is on global issues. I think this school has an excellent curriculum.
