Glenwood is a great school academically. The teachers here really strive to see their students succeed. The school offers many opportunities for student creativity, as well as offers many elective credit options. However, I believe that the mental health resources from the school could use some improvement. Often times, if a student meets with a counselor, the problem is not addressed, but rather the student is given a temporary solution. With the importance of mental health growing in interest, I think the school should really consider taking action to improve these services. On another note, the theater and music groups at the school are great! Our show choir is award winning and the band is wonderful. I would recommend this school.
Glenwood High School is an amazing school, and I'm proud to be a senior here! Everyone here knows each other, there is an exceptional teacher to student interaction, security is extremely safe, and families are welcomed. The school and its district really helps solidify itself as a loving community. We are thankful to offer many classes ranging from College Prep, AP, Foreign Language, and Arts based on the students comfortable choice, and offer many study sessions in the tutoring room or with other students volunteering as tutors. This healthy interaction is definitely why the school has such a great campus culture, particularly in the sports department. One thing that I love about this school is how it trains its students to become independent people after their 4 years, setting them for a successful future, and this is such an heartwarming inspiration for everyone in the school.
The four years I spent at Glenwood High School were some of the best of my life. If you're having trouble and can't locate a tutor, your teachers will go out of their way to help you, even staying after school. Counselors in the school's office are well-versed in a variety of topics, from kids' emotional well-being to applying to colleges, and they make a variety of useful resources available to students on a daily basis. The school's other facilities, including the library, cafeteria, two gyms, and weight room, are also impressive. These areas include everything a student may need. In addition to varsity sports, Glenwood offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses that can help students get admission to competitive universities. Truly, I have nothing negative to say about GHS; everything, including the cuisine, is excellent.
