Athletics is definitely more important than academics here. There's absolutely no diversity, and most of the non-colored students are very ignorant. There's a lot of internal racism here and many of these students are taught this racism from home. If you're not looking to expose your student to other cultures as they should be, then this place is for you. Also, the teachers that teach the AP History classes tend to say very controversial things to support their blatantly obvious conservative views. But if you can ignore all of that the classes here are pretty average and most of the staff is nice.

Best school system in the entire valley. We have been to Roanoke city, homeschooling, and Salem City schools. All were disappointing and teachers wanted students medicated even if they did not have a learning disorder. Moving to Glenvar has been the best decision we ever made. A lot of staff are our neighbors. The staff go above and beyond to take care of students. They focus on learning in multiple ways to help most learning styles. My child has been incredibly happy attending their schools. 💯 no bullying. The staff are dedicated to helping out students and parents. My only regret is not moving here sooner. ☺️
Glenvar High School, where everyone fits in, is quite a unique place with it's close knit all involved community. Everyone pitches in with something and helps to keep our school thriving. The people are some of the most genuine and down to earth you'll ever meet and help or guidance with almost anything is at your fingertips here in Highlander Heaven. It is a great place to grow into the individual you aspire to be as you are surrounded by people who encourage you to be the best version of you possible. When I say everyone fits in, I mean it. I am so proud to have my roots grounded into this community and will cherish my memories here forever.
