I have had an overall good experience at Glenelg High School. It has a great reputation and prepared me well for college. The teachers and counselors are supportive and helpful when you are willing to put in the effort. Diversity abounds and there is a sense of community that I would say is remarkable. There are the challenges that come along with that, but all in all, they are dealt with respectfully and responsibly. I am proud to be a gladiator!

I really like the atmosphere of Glenelg High School, as I felt like I belonged there almost instantly. Even though my view of Glenelg High School is most likely very biased, I do believe that the faculty is top of the line in regards to friendliness and overall quality. From my personal experience, the teachers and counselors at Glenelg High School were always ready and willing to support me as well as other students through their academics and college planning, which makes the academic side of Glenelg superior to other schools as there are classes exclusive to Glenelg. The food and student safety are also excellent because the food is very affordable for its quality and there is always a school resource officer on the premises. The diversity at Glenelg is well reflected in the clubs and after-school activities, as the large variety of clubs are full of many people from different races and ethnicities.
It seems as if the quality of the students and the involvement of the parents as well as the funding that goes into the school far surpasses the quality of teachers and facilities that the school has. The school's architecture is very outdated and has been known to have problems with mold. Also, school lunches are very average if not poor. While there are a select few teachers who are very good at what they do and are passionate about what they do, there are also teachers that really couldn't care less about what happens in their classroom. Additionally, the school does not have as much spirit as several of the other Howard county high schools. There's also very little diversity in the school with most of the students being Caucasian. Sports at Glenelg are very good, you can always rely on some sort of sport making it to the state semifinals or even the finals. the extracurricular activities at the school offers are also very good.
