There is a reason Glenda Dawson High School is highly ranked with a graduation rate of 99%. The staff and student ratio is ideal for a great learning environment and the sense of school spirit is off the charts!

Unfortunately, gun violence is a up and coming issue but the safety measures and security that the school provides students allows everyone to focus solely on academics and preparing students for a successful future at the university level . Additionally, the clubs and sports activities that are offered are plentiful . From leadership opportunities to competing for state championship in football, Dawson really does do it all. As a Dawson Alumi, I can say with confidence the tools Dawson provides students with a path to success. "Some fly. We soar".

The quality of the classes is good if you are enrolled in AP/ pre-AP classes. The teachers take time to explain concepts and assign challenging homework and projects. If you are not in an advanced class, expect it to be a total waste of time. Teachers in regular classes make them stupidly easy and generally expect nothing from students. The administration is also very strict and out of touch with the student body for no apparent reason. The lunch situation is somewhat acceptable as with most public schools. Everyone is supposed to take 7 classes a day every day as opposed to the block schedule system which is also quite stupid. Overall a pretty good school especially considering how close it is to Houson ghettos.
The staff care so much about each student and want you to succeed in everything you do! Yes, High School can be crappy at times but the staff make it to where you want to be at school and make that your safe place to go to! Also, they made it a point to have fun during high school with multiple fun activities like hoco week and Dawson vs. Pearland week and of course the multiple pep rally’s a year were fun!
