Glencoe High School has been a very confusing place- not because the academics are necessarily hard, but because there are some truly great people there, and then there are some intensely rude people. The students you meet there are kind of by luck of the draw, some are really great and kind people who are working to make a change not just in our school but on the global scale, and they are super inspiring to be around! But others were just put in bad situations growing up- hopefully that would be the reason for how they are, and all I can say is they definitely teach you how to overcome challenges. The faculty is generally average and kind with multiple shining stars in there that really care about you and know how to show it. There are annoying challenges in certain places, but overall Glencoe has been a good introduction to the real world, and I have learned a lot about life there.
Great staff and students, clubs and extra curricular activities, sportsmanship state champion dance team three years running , parent booster club and cheerleading also. This was when I went there from 1996-2000. It was fun to go there and I was close to home so I could ride my bike to and from. Most of my classes were mainstreamed so I could be with my friends. I also was part of the crimson florists which was where I picked up and when we were done watering the plants we delivered them back to the the different rooms for the teachers.
Glencoe has A LOT of recourses for people which is a plus but the building is quite small and old. The teachers are typically stereotypical and a little rude most of the time. They can treat you unfair if you mess up in a way that they don’t like and may be difficult to recover from. I’ve noticed the school has some diversity and mainly only influenced for Mexicans. I’d say most of the students at the school are white and a very little are mexican and the smallest population is black. There are only a COUPLE black students at the school which causes low diversity but overall an okay school. There are lots of drugs getting passed around mainly adderal and marijuana but can range up to Crystal meth. There is also a small group of clearly gang related students which do cause trouble but don’t affect other students. I’d say this school is a 10x better option than for say liberty and definitely FG.
