This school is, shockingly, utopic. In my four years at Glenbrook South I was continually awed by its ability to create a truly pro-student environment. Not having experienced anything different, it wasn't until a visiting friend spent 10 minutes chattering on about how amazing it was that nearly the whole school was carpeted that I understood how fortunate I was. GBS never once held back resources of any variety. Classes assigned ACT prep work instead of useless worksheets, parapros knew countless children by name, and the task of starting a club if none suited your fancy was nothing more difficult than filling out a form. The most remarkable aspect of this school, however, was the fact that I had upwards of 5 teachers who, to this day, I can accredit to changing my outlook on life.

Fantastic school! Teachers are great and helpful; you can also can extra help. Lots of extra curricular activities. Everyone can certainly find something that interests them, including a great athletic program!
As a student, I have always had a harder time learning material than my peers. At Glenbrook south, the teachers have been more than willing to go out of their way to help me. Each morning of my freshman year, Mr. Schmalzer retaught me math lessons in different way until I understood. He never once showed a sign of being annoyed, and instead was enthusiastic about helping me learn. With his help I was able to succeed, and retain information to this day. Even though this is just one example, I have many more teachers with the same mindset. I am so lucky!
