In general, Glenbrook North High school offers one of the best education program and curriculum in Illinois! Our school provides many educational opportunities and challenges for each and every student currently attending this specific high school! In other words, GBN provides high-level sport activities, clubs, as well as projects! As a current sophomore, I've been able to obtain leadership and social skills as a community member of GBN! As a regular participant of Key Club and Medical Club, I've been able to achieve long-term goals I've set for my overall high school experience through interacting with other students and assisting their needs. I am proud to say every single teacher at our school is fair and equal to each and every student of Glenbrook North High school.
My time at GBN was pretty average, nothing special. The academics here are fantastic, and I feel that they have prepared me for college very well, especially since I took honors/APs all 4 years. That being said, the school culture is kind of eh. I was lucky enough to have mostly good teachers, and I've even had some phenomenal teachers, but some teachers are not the greatest. The administration also kind of sucks, and there's definitley more that they can do to prioritize student well being. At least there are lots of clubs and sports to get involved with to make some friends.
As with any school, GBN has its flaws. In my opinion, the school often misuses its budget for vanity or unnecessary technology while certain essential systems still don't function as intended. The school's responses and resources for mental health problems are lacking for many students. However, I still feel incredibly lucky to have attended GBN. There is an incredible number of opportunities to get involved in the fine arts, career and technical prep, STEM, and everything in between. Students can find community in all corners of the building—on sports teams, in performing arts ensembles, in STEM competitions, etc. The teachers are there to help you and teach you to learn, not just to give you grades. Overall, it's a very good school, and I feel prepared for the next stages of my life.
