I did not like Glen Ridge High School. It is incredibly competitive and the teachers give unnecessary work. Deforestation is primarily caused by these teachers, they give more busy work than papers that will benefit our education. Their substitute teachers are perhaps worse than the work. They are strict and rude. They do not seem to care about the students or respect them in the slightest. Speaking of respect, the teachers certainly look down on the students. It's clear that the teachers have high egos and believe they are always correct. Of course, I have problems with school in general, so perhaps I am not being fair. My main problem with this school is that it is made for certain students. Kids who want to learn the facts and excel at standardized tests. There isn't wiggle room for creativity and culture.

Overall, Glen Ridge High School is a good school. The teachers are (mostly) fantastic and really seem to care about the kids. With a high rate of sending kids to college and lots of AP offerings, it pushes kids to take on high level classes.

However, there is a big issue in that. Many kids are pressured into taking more AP/honors classes than they feel comfortable. On the flip side, the non honor/AP classes are a joke. This makes dedicated students wary of taking these classes, so they’ll take an AP. This makes the stress levels very high.

Glen Ridge is also a bit of a party town—at least we think we are. That rigid social dynamic tends to blend itself into GRHS. Especially where jocks tend to think they’re extremely superior.

The administration and teachers care deeply, you’ll be thouroughly challenged, and they will help send you to a good college. Though there are things to dislike, it’s a pretty good school compared to every other in America.
I graduated from GRHS in 2014, and I think it was a pretty good school! Not a very diverse town, so that’s why I gave it 2 stars for that. I personally didn’t feel too ready for college because of the classes I took, but I am actually doing very well in my courses. I was in the band all four years, and the music program is HUGE here, so it’s taken very seriously. A lot of the teachers at GRHS are pretty good too, but honestly some aren’t.
