From Gilman School

Founded in 1897 as the nation's first country day school, Gilman School is a PK-12 private independent day school for boys. Our mission is to unlock the greatness within each boy by educating the entire boy—mind, body, and spirit.

Our pursuit of excellence in all we do, our rich and comprehensive program, our immeasurably talented and interesting faculty and students, and our belief in the character traits embodied by the Gilman Five—Honor, Integrity, Respect, Humility, and Excellence—form the foundation of a school dedicated to helping boys of promise grow into men of character.

I’m so sad I had to move. Gilman was the best part of my day! The students and teachers were very accepting, smart, fun, and could make a class or free time fun. After leaving Gilman I realized Gilman was an emotion, it was abstract in the sense it was an emotion. I’ve made lifelong friends there and can honestly say it is the best school ever!

Gilman is a great school with invested teachers and a passionate student body dedicated to academic, athletic, and artistic achievement. Academically and athletically strong with the feel of a mini-liberal arts college. Flik Food is alright, which great for school standards. Music program is decent, but nothing compared to the stellar public school programs.
Coming to Gilman in eighth grade, I was exposed to resources, teachers and students that changed my life forever. I have been able to form unbelievable relationships with classmates and teachers that will last forever. Gilman has challenged me in many different areas, allowing me to struggle, learn, and grow. Over the last five years the academic and athletic challenges that Gilman has presented me, has allowed me develop into the hard working, determined and intelligent person I am today. If anyone has the opportunity to attend Gilman, it is a no brainer. It will change your life forever.
