From Georgetown Preparatory School

Georgetown Prep is part of a rich heritage of Jesuit education – one that began in 1789 when Archbishop John Carroll, the first bishop of Baltimore, founded his Academy on the Patowmack.

Since then, the vision for Jesuit education has expanded and is now shared by more than 50 other Jesuit high schools in the United States.

As a Catholic school, Prep helps young men to grow in their faith and understanding of the teachings of the Church and to learn to put their faith into action in the service of others. We welcome students of all faiths, believing that conscious reflection on one’s faith, whatever it may be, leads to spiritual maturity and a commitment to serve others.

Jesuit education centers on the education of the whole person: mind, spirit and body. This is accomplished through cura personalis (Latin for personalized care and concern for the individual) and through a holistic curriculum.

Prep is an amazing school and gives an educational, athletic, and social experience of a lifetime. It is very challenging but all the teachers are there for you and the school gives you so many resources to succeed. The reason I did not give it 5/5 stars is for two reason : a mediocre science department and the fact that it is all-boys. Not having girls around is pretty rough. The school has an amazing buffet-style lunch and we have champ titles in almost all of our sports. Our dorms need improvement, but at the moment we are building a new boarding facility!

Despite the nonsensical politics of a private institution, the school offers much to its students physically, emotionally and spiritually. With a phenomenal residential program and a faculty that will push you to be your best as you discover yourself, Georgetown Prep creates an environment where students can mature academically and as a people. Undoubtedly, students who attend this institution will be well-prepared for any university, but will also be nurtured to be men for and with others.
Prep has been an incredible experience for me in just my freshman year. The diversity among students is spectacular and helps to develop a truly unique camaraderie. I saw a review about Fr. Sauter’s English class. I was able to work through and get only 90s and above without immense stress so I do not understand why someone would go so far as to call for him to be fired. Overall, the academic rigor and community make Georgetown Prep a top notch school.
