GDS is in so many ways an ideal learning environment. The teachers are engaging, supportive, and rigorous, the extracurriculars are multifaceted and enjoyable, the athletics are fun and competitive. GDS exemplifies it’s mission, as it leaves students more prepared for life after high school, while instilling them with a crucial sense of right and wrong, and the tools to go out into the world and right some of those wrongs. More than anything else, GDS is what it is because of the students. Collaborative, intellectual, kind, and engaging, the community truly is like no other. People genuinely care about both each other and the school, and that aditude leads to a community that isn’t just in school from 8:15-3:15 and then gone, but one that keeps the building lively at all hours. GDS is truly an incredible place, and I hope that this convinces someone to either apply or attend. I promise you won’t regret it!

I have been thrilled with how well Georgetown Day School (GDS) lives up to its mission! The faculty is TOP NOTCH and knows how to motivate, inspire and educate each student to his or her unique full potential, while making learning FUN. The community is warm and welcoming, diverse and interesting. There are opportunities for students to thrive in so many different settings, while also learning how to help make the world a better place.
Georgetown Day School honors the integrity and worth of each individual within a diverse school community. GDS is dedicated to providing a supportive educational atmosphere in which teachers challenge the intellectual, creative, and physical abilities of our students and foster strength of character and concern for others. From the earliest grades, they encourage us to wonder, to inquire, and to be self-reliant, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
