This was my first experience of education in America and it was quite handful, but definitely a memorable part of my life . For starters, the administration might be the worst of all time, they tend to not care for anyone’s true well-being (except Mr. Rivers who is the GOAT), and they enforce really stupid rules and are very very rough on students which is very unnecessary. The teachers are half and half, good for the most part, they can be very engaging but there are some you just wanna punch some in the face. If you are going for the language programs then it’s the right school for you, it might suck sometimes and be kind of hard but i loved every step of it (i was in Italian). That being said, the school has incredible amounts of potential, if the school administrators realized that collaboration beats administration then the school could even be one of the best in the state, it’s got the teachers, curriculum, students and athletics (kinda) for it.
Let me say smth about Carver: u either like it or u hate it. I liked it, bc as far as middle schools go, it’s pretty decent. No bullying, ur not worried abt randomly getting punched in the face in the hallway… etc, etc. But some ppl are ready to leave on day one. If u like sports, there are some teams that are good, like tennis, volleyball, and soccer but that’s basically it. So I recommend playing outside of school. Some teachers suck, and some will be the greatest teachers u ever have. Take Physical Science in 7th if u can. And PLEASE j take Art and/or PE. U’ll thank me later. The administration isn’t the greatest, except for a couple ppl. So j try to avoid them at all costs. To sum things up, ur going to Carver for 1 of 2 reasons: either your parents are forcing u to go, or ur going bc u like to learn. If ur forced to go, ur prolly gonna hate it. If ur going bc u want to, ur prolly gonna like it. O - and if ur going bc of friends, y? Just y? Anyway gl :)
Carver is certainly a good school, but mostly because of the students. It's academics are great and students are smart and eager to do well. It's athletics program is also pretty good, although not a focus.
Teachers are good for the most part, but it's a mixed bag. I've had some of my best and a couple of my worst teachers here. (Make sure to get into physical science in 7th grade if you can, you'll get the best teacher ever if you do.)
The administration is probably the worst part about Carver. They treat you like just another task to finish and inconsistently enforce unnecessary rules (like wearing an ID in addition to a complete uniform) depending on how they feel and if they like you.
I felt that the school is very inclusive and kids rarely created exclusive cliques. Nearly all of the time people are friendly especially to people who feel left out.
