Carver is certainly a good school, but mostly because of the students. It's academics are great and students are smart and eager to do well. It's athletics program is also pretty good, although not a focus.
Teachers are good for the most part, but it's a mixed bag. I've had some of my best and a couple of my worst teachers here. (Make sure to get into physical science in 7th grade if you can, you'll get the best teacher ever if you do.)
The administration is probably the worst part about Carver. They treat you like just another task to finish and inconsistently enforce unnecessary rules (like wearing an ID in addition to a complete uniform) depending on how they feel and if they like you.
I felt that the school is very inclusive and kids rarely created exclusive cliques. Nearly all of the time people are friendly especially to people who feel left out.

I hated this school. Teachers are terrible, administration doesn't care, I didn't learn anything, and the students were okay. It did prepare me for high school well, since it stressed me out beyond help. The clubs sucked a lot, except for GSA. School culture was full of memes and depression. There's a lot of sports, and all the sports teams are really good, except for all the boys' teams. It was very safe. Room seven is hell. Nobody likes it; they treat the mentally ill kids like they're insignificant. Your self esteem will get destroyed here. Despite all of this, I suggest this school over all the other middle schools in miami-dade. They're all much worse and have drug problems. I graduated in 2018, and I will definitely miss the school since I met all my closest friends and girlfriend here. The school is really safe for LGBTQ+ students, and in the next year the principal has promised the GSA that she'll try her best to add more protections for LGBT students. Good luck.
Even though I love that Carver has great diversity and love for sports and arts, there are still a problem. Kids from Sunset enter automatically. This a great disappointment because they are not prepared for Carver at all. In my first year at Carver, I was in all honor classes. I felt soooo ahead in my classes that I never had to study for a test! I became part of the math club where we participated in math competitions and practiced at a high school level. In 6th grade, I took the test to take algebra in 7th instead of in 8th and the test to skip physical science 2. I passed both! The acceptance score began at 85% I got a 92%. They brought down the percentage to 65%!!!! Please Carver staff, if you read this, support the fact that all of the kids have to take an equivalent test to get in to the school. At the beginning, I thought I was going to be challenged by Carver's academic level but sadly, it is nothing close to that.
