I am a parent of a current senior at George Stevens Academy. We moved to Blue Hill at the beginning of my daughter's junior year - a challenging time to transfer high schools. We were both nervous. My daughter's experience has been outstanding! Not only has she been challenged and supported academically developed, my daughter has thrived. She has participated in athletics and has found a genuine group of friends and peers. My daughter has found her academic strengths and has been so happy here. This is a safe, supportive, caring environment and not only has my child developed strong peer relationships, but she has also made incredible connections with her teachers, advisor, and administrator. We are so glad we made this decision!
We moved to the Blue Hill, Maine area two years ago. My son was just going into his junior year. Clearly, a difficult time to move schools. This is when we really started to see George Stevens Academy's magic. His transition was not just easy, but it was motivational. He quickly found the appropriate classes (thanks to the school's seasoned administation). And, he quickly found a group of friends. The George Stevens Academy students are open, intersting, and supportive. Today, my son is a senior and looking forward to college. He continues to love the school. His group of friend has expanded. As parents, we love the school. Although there are plenty of challenges, George Stevens Academy seems to know just how and when to push the students. The school teaches students HOW to think... not what to think. This is refreshing in today's school systems. In short, George Stevens Academy really is a magical place. I will always appreciate the school. Go, Eagles!
My son is a senior at GSA and our experience there has been nothing short of wonderful. Coming from outside of the Blue Hill area, we were looking for a school that would offer a variety of accelerated courses and provide a high level of academic rigor, while also using a personalized approach to instruction. That is what we have found at George Stevens. The school community is extremely welcoming, the teachers are top-notch, and the variety of sports, clubs and activities offered are simply wonderful. My son is very happy there. I would recommend GSA without reservation to any parent looking to give their child a first class secondary education!
