I took advantage of the Gateway to College program at Springfield Technical Community College in the Summer of 2017. As I was preparing for my senior year at Springfield Central High school I wanted to test out a business course before deciding my major. I took an entry-level Economics course which I loved! My professor was very formal and treated both high school and college students the same. Due to the semester being held in the summer, the course material went by very fast. The formality with quick test taken skills learned in high school made it very helpful for me to succeed in the course. One thing I would like to see added to this program woud be a deeper explanation of credits and how they would transfer from this program to other universities/colleges.
The professors are good and are willing to work with and help their students succeed. I've never had a teacher that was proud of students failing their class. The STCC staff is also willing to work with students regarding any issues that they have. This includes the scheduling office, disabilities office, administration, etc. The biggest problem I've faced at STCC is the fact that a lot of professors are now using online books which are much more expensive, and there is no way to buy a used or cheaper version of it because the online book is customized to that specific class and its assignments.
Its an awesome college! Honestly I am blessed to be attending a college that has such good professors. The people are super nice and friendly and the campus is always clean.
