Gateway is a school that concentrates on college prep academics, being an athlete, increasing your artistic abilities, and learning to serve your community. The AP courses and advanced courses are fantastic. Although we're a small school, we are the mighty gators! Are coaches do their best to help us reach district level competitions, are robotics team to State competitions, and are dance team is one of the best. Gateway college prep has it all and all students feel a part of our community.
. I found that at first it was scary, but not at all hard to adjust to. The students were welcoming, and I found myself able to fit in quite quickly. The school is small which allows teachers to get one on one experiences with their students, and the school is essentially a close knit school. Everyone knows everyone, and this allows you to make connections and bonds with everyone!
Small class size, I graduated with less than 80 students. It is a tech-like school so they rely on computers more than paper. They have a mixture of academics and sports like; baseball (B), softball (G), basketball (B), volleyball(G), soccer (G), lacrosse (B/G), swimming (B/G), cross country (B/G), track and field (B/G), etc. we also have art students there that also compete at art competitions. Academically speaking there is a lot of freedom for teachers in their curriculum so there is no teaching to the test like in most public schools. I finished with a 3.6 GPA and was bottom 50% so there is a tough competitive side of the school but almost my entire class signed onto a 4-year college before graduating. There is a heavy emphasis on college-bound students and there are classes at Gateway that assist students in getting into college and habits for succeeding there too, although the class is not required to graduate it is highly encouraged. Teachers tend to be great and can be helpful
