Garrett Academy helped prepare me for the real world. I recall taking Economics that taught us the basics of banking and budgeting. Along with the technology classes that gave up an opportunity to immediately enter a career path after graduation. I appreciate Garrett Academy for that, even though I decided to join the US Army after graduation, I always have what I learned in my Tech class to fall back on!

Garrett Academy of Technology was an amazing school. It was well known for its college and career readiness courses and a close family-like staff. The teachers were very understanding and involved, and the students show pride and work together to all succeed and learn. The principle is very amazing too, making sure students are always at there best and rewarding them with great high school experience. There are elements schools should have to put them in the category of a good school, and these are all qualities that Garrett Academy has. I'm happy to call myself an alumnus of this school and will always have its back, just as it has had mine. For any incoming high school freshmen, Garrett is the place to go.
Garrett Academy were honestly the best years of my life when I attended that school. The school isn't in the best area but everyone was a family. We stuck together and supported the school's needs and the student's needs. We had great teachers who we knew genuinely cared about every single one of their students even though they might have gave them a hard time. The love there was amazing and I felt it. It was a school that accepted students from different areas of Charleston even though it was predominately African American students there. The tech programs they had there made the school even better. It definitely brought out the potential in students that were overlooked by the district. It prepared us for careers that we were interested in and I am glad I had that advantage.
