I am currently a junior and I would say that this is the best school I have ever been to, they give gifted students the opportunities they deserve and those who are behind special classes to learn what they need to. I have failed my Reading Staar multiple times and the teachers at this school showed me what I needed to know and now I am taking AP English after a year! This school also has very friendly and helpful teachers and staff that go beyond the expectations of their jobs for their students and a wonderful AP and IB program that isn’t available in other schools and get students ready for a college education.

One of my favorite things about Garland High School is that there is so much diversity, and this gives us students more insight to different cultures and backgrounds which is important to our society today. Another one of my favorite things about Garland High is the variety of different activities and programs you can do from academics to athletics and to clubs which makes for a well-rounded student body. Lastly, the International Baccalaureate program is one of the bigggest pluses our school offers, being apart of this prestigious program helps prepare students for college life which in my opinion is very beneficial. Garland High School has many things to offer which is why it provides great experiences to last not only through high school, but for the rest of your life.
Gig ‘em Owls!
Though a little rough to navigate through at first, Garland high has certainly treated me well throughout my year. The staff, as well as the academics were nothing short of amazing, and although the IB courses are rigorous, at the end of the day the lesson of time (and stress) management is worth it. The fine arts department was my second home, and still continues to act as a safe haven for students. The onlty thing I wish we could change? Out sports teams. Come on owls, fight!
