I have been in Gardendale Schools since pre-school, and I would not trade the experience that I have had for anything else. Gardendale is a tight-knit town that always comes together for extra-curricular activities and their spirit is so encouraging. Through my four years at Gardendale High School, I have had the opportunities to excel in challenging classes, meet friends from other countries, and be apart of many volunteer organizations. While this experience was rewarding, our school could definitely work on better preparing their students for college. Many seniors are lost on applying for colleges, scholarships, and things like the FAFSA. Our counselors could greatly improve on informing and guiding their seniors to success.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Gardendale High School. I had a solid friend group and participated in many of the social events my school hosted. I was a member of the student council body and a member of the National Honors Society Club. Many of my teachers were very helpful. The fact that my teachers believed in me gave me the confidence I needed to be my very best academically. However, Gardendale High school has some disadvantages as well. For starters, the school is often labeled as being very segregated. This problem has been addressed at the school on numerous different occasions. Sadly, this social issue is still present in the school today. As a member of the student council, we fought for equality for all and to break the barrier of racial segregation in the hallways of Gardendale High School.
Gardendale is a very great school! I love the experience I have gained from it. I’ve made some great friends, and have bonded with some teachers. I hate that this is my last year that this amazing school. But I know that this will be my best year out of all of my grade school years.
