Garden School used to be a place I was proud to call my second home. Not anymore.

The school looks like it was built in 1923 when Garden first opened. With the cost of tuition being so high you’d expect the money to go into renovating the school, considering IT DOESNT GO TO THE STAFF. The school principle is NOT FRIENDLY. He gives the tours for the school but I think they should get someone who actually smiles to give a tour.

bullet points:
- teachers are underpaid (maybe instead of paying 6-figures to a principle, pay the teachers)
- staff is under appreciated
- athletics could be WAY better but the administration doesn’t care about the sports program
- no school spirit left
- most teachers are mostly old and worn out.
- Cafeteria need a makeover
- the gym AC doesn’t work

Garden used to be better.

Garden School provided me with an excellent education, various extra-curricular opportunities that included leadership roles, amazing domestic and international trip experiences, and thoroughly prepared me for college. Not only is the tuition lower than other New York independent schools, the quality of education is higher. The school also offers merit scholarships which I was a recipient of. The Garden School community has become a second family for me and the many other students who attended.
The teachers at Garden School truly care about the students - as both learners and individuals. Instructors frequently go above and beyond their duties in the classroom, serving as coaches for school teams, mentors for students interested in learning more, and by volunteering to help students with class events and fundraisers. I've never felt scared to approach an instructor for help, and I felt like I truly learned when I was a student at Garden because my teachers taught me about subjects, as opposed to teaching me how to take a standardized exam. Teachers also organized numerous extracurricular events, such as trips to Broadway shows and a writing program for local students that provided opportunities for academic enrichment outside of the classroom
