Gann Academy Reviews
Rating 4.11 out of 5 66 reviews
I am a senior at Gann Academy. I love the small class sizes, teachers, and tight community. I also love the opportunities I have in STEM to explore with some classes that usually are not offered till the second year of college.
That being said, I came to Gann to lose some of the stress a public highschool might have. Even though I still think there is less stress now with the support Gann offers, the school is becoming more high pressure each year. They discourage free periods while encouraging clubs/sports. Though those with extra time on tests are often unable to go to club meeting. This environment, if you let it causes overworking oneself.
When I was a freshman, I found I had more time on my hands than in middle school (to be fair a high bar). Now, sophmores take an advanced chemistry class/pre-AP class, that has 2-3 hours of homework a night.
I think their are a lot of good parts about Gann, esspecially the people, but I wish students had more say in all the changes.

Gann Academy is a great school They really hold true to their core values of create, care, connect, and strive. The faculty and staff are excellent. Gann strives to educate and empower students, connects with students, faculty/staff, alumni, parents, and the larger Boston area community. Gann cares about its community, and wants everyone to feel safe and welcome. Gann works to create new and innovative ways to educate students, as well as help create/nurture future leaders. Gann has only been around for a bit more than 20 years, but I know its students go on to do amazing and inspiring things.
This is a terrific school, particularly for its size. Anyone who is Jewish--regardless of denomination and observation--should give Gann a hard look. The faculty and administration are incredibly committed to the students and put time and effort into faculty development. The students respect one another and no one appears left out. My daughter has flourished there and found her voice. I truly believe this would not have happened at any other school.
