Galena High School overall is pretty average. Like anything, it has its problem areas, but the individuals in the school are pretty amazing. The teachers care so much about what they are doing and want every child to succeed, even if they don't say it. Among the adults within the school, there could be better communication and more open hearts. The students should be the first priority among any school, but here it isn't always the case. The school as more internal problems than external ones and sometimes the adults forget that the kids are still kids. Despite its issues, which come with every school, there are great opportunities for anybody to succeed.
I believe that Galena is a good school, our school is very strong in sports. Which is something our entire school is very proud of . But there are also things that I cannot stand about my school. In one of my classes it really is a struggle to understand concepts and retain information. Overall, I think that Galena is a good school but there are teachers there that really don’t help with our education and waste our time with their teaching because it’s so hard to understand and they like to use other teacher’s resources instead of trying to come up with ways that will help their students. I think in these cases the school should step in and try to better the situation by finding a new teacher or maybe another alternative. A lot of other schools in our district prep their students for the SAT and ACT and Galena does not really offer any options for that. I would like if Galena offered ACT or SAT prep classes because it would prepare us for the upcoming tests.
