I started at FAST as a 3rd grade teacher. I then became an 8th grade science and social studies teacher. And now I am serving as principal. I serve because I believe in the values and vision of this school. The diversity of our population is celebrated and nurtured. Students learn to be independent and confident. FAST is only 3 years old and it is already seen as a model for innovation. Do we get everything right? Absolutely not. But we are learning as we grow. Often these sites are used by people to vent and that often skews the true story. We have grown to capacity this year with a waiting list of over 500. There's your real story.

Our family love this school. We have 2 sons there and they are almost opposites in terms of their needs, learning style and interests. But the school has been able to deliver and fulfill both of their needs, in a great and positive environment as well.
We were really excited about both of our children going here, but all my child got exposed to were aggressive kids and teachers who don't know how to teach. Some of the teachers were fine, but the ones that were bad - were really bad. The teachers have no consistency in how they discipline and no one seemed to care. And the administration was the worse - never resolving any issues. The math curriculum is good, but if the teachers don't know how to teach it then why keep using it? The science program is no better than any other public school. I was impressed with being able to see the homework every week and how much homework the kids had. I felt they were challenging the kids to do their best, but this wasn't enough for me to send my children back to the school. They would also benefit by adding neutral board members who aren't just looking out for their children, but the entire school.
