Fryeburg Academy is a private school with a lot of character. My personal experience was rather positive, though I heard from others that it was less so. As with most high schools. Generally, the faculty try their best to improve and help any sort of situation, whether it be bullying, a flaw in academics, or ignorance. Their opportunities for extracurriculars are fantastic, and it continues to grow each year. However, what I would change is their priorities. Their music and arts programs are phenomenal, with a musical every year and thousands of dollars of funding being put into that program every single year. Overall, Fryeburg Academy always has room for improvement, but compared to other high schools, it's a calm and academically challenging institution.
As a former parent, I would honestly state that the level of instruction is excellent. The teachers, in particular, the veteran staff are the best. They truly care about the students and will do everything within their scope to help them succeed. My child was able to have a wonderful high school experience by achieving academically while also able to participate in both athletics and other parts of their arts program. A student is welcome to join a sport even though they may never have played and the coaching supports them, which is simply great. In my view, Fryeburg keeps it all in perspective while developing all-around athletes, that is, with academic and athletic balance. My only criticism would be on the administration, just way too liberal.
I went to Fryeburg Academy for my whole 4 years of high school, and I would say that the over all experience is amazing and I would recommend a lot of people go there! The teachers and students are so welcoming and amazing to everyone they meet. I made so many new memories and many friends that will be with me for a very long time. The faculty and teachers are very understanding and really want to know how your doing on a daily basis. The campus of Fryeburg academy is so enjoyable because It’s an open campus so going off campus during lunches make it so great. One thing I would recommend they do is try and make the walk ways up to the building better when the winter days set in. You would have a amazing high school experience when you go to Fryeburg Academy! I’m proud of where I went to school!
