At Frontier every one is connected in some way, the school is small which allows you to truly know all of your peers and teachers. Joining a club connects you further into the community and help you find true friends, sports are another way to connect with the community. Some of the most popular sports played are basketball, cross country, soccer, volleyball, and though we don’t have a football team we play with our neighboring school University. Some of the best clubs at Frontier are Key Club, Drama, Debate, Student Council, connect club, and there are much more amazing clubs started by students of the school. Frontier has such an amazing community from elementary to High school you’ll find and meet kids that share your common interest and have an amazing school year with close friends by your side, the Frontier community is close and you’ll feel that warmth for yourself as you learn leadership and make friends and strong relationships.
I started going to Frontier Academy in first grade and continued through my freshman year until I abruptly moved to New York. I longed to go back to the schooling I had become accustomed to in Colorado. I missed not just the teachers but the faculty members as well. Compared to the new school I had been enrolled in, the teachers from Frontier had genuine interest in their students and their overall well-being and academic success. I missed the block scheduling and the freedom to leave campus on my off blocks and lunch. I enjoyed the close knit community and bonds I had formed within my graduating class as well as teammates. The athletics and coaches focused on not just ones physical or individual abilities but instead incorporated a deeper level of team bonding. This allowed for a stronger and indestructible team that was able to overcome any and all adversity that came our way. I was never more thankful than when I learned I was moving back to Colorado and returning to Frontier.
This was a great school, but already it seems to have its best days behind it. Test scores are dropping, achievements are dwindling, the exceptional experienced staff is leaving. Hard to know what's to blame: they grew significantly in the last few years, they have mediocre facilities, and they switched to a 4-day school week for the elementary kids, which can't possibly be good. I'm glad my kids had outgrown the elementary before they made that choice. The 4-day at the secondary was hard enough for my daughters; what a terrible way to teach the importance of a strong work ethic! Another sign: their graduating classes typically have significantly lower scholarship dollar totals then other similar schools. Our youngest is done this year - and none too soon! Wouldn't choose it again.
