I have been in the Frenship ISD district since 1st grade. I have been granted many opportunities at Frenship. The abundance of classes and college credit options has aided me in preparing for my future. I have been a part of clubs and organizations throughout my four years of high school, and I personally feel they could do more. More involvement is necessary for these volunteer groups and organizations to be successful. I feel very strongly that the mental health education is subpar at Frenship, and every other school in the United States. Access to reliable mental health resources is necessary, especially for high schoolers. I believe efforts have been made in that area, but more could be done, especially after one of our own students committed suicide. Just having a conversation with students about mental health and educating students who may not understand what they are going through could save lives.
I have encountered some of the most dedicated professors and staff here. The school offers many opportunities for everyone, instructors and staff are willing to assist students in any way they can in order to help them receive a top-notch education while also fostering a sense of community, friends, and helpful staff. Students are competitive in the classroom and work hard in their studies. Students have more educational options thanks to technological advancements, and technology may also enable them to pursue specific hobbies and ambitions in their professions.
Frenship HS provides many classes and resources, such as an extensive library and computer and Internet access. There are many excellent teachers at Frenship, and I have been fortunate to have learned a lot from many of these passionate, hard-working educators. A few things Frenship could improve on are 1) offering more AP classes, especially for freshmen/sophomores, 2) giving more focus and attention to academics rather than sports, and 3) stop policing what students wear. Overall, Frenship has provided me with a lot of opportunities, and though there are downsides, as at every school, but I am looking forward to continuing my education there.
