If you are an artist or an avid sports player, this school is perfect. It is full of creative energy wherever you go. The academics are extremely rigorous, whether you take the IB, or the BAC. You must know this is not like any other school. But, you learn to think beyond the box (very cliché but it's true), and to apply your knowledge to something you have no idea about. In other words, it is not about memorization, but about critical thinking. Plus, Hayes Valley has suchhhhhh good food!

Only school in the Bay Area to offer both immersive IB and French Baccalaureate programs. There are some standout teachers but the others are average. However, most teachers are truly invested in teaching, which is a plus. Facilities are lacking: the school is just short of enough space for the number of attending students, there is not the typical shower/locker room situation that there would be even at the most generic public high school, and French-American is an expensive private school. Biggest plus is the type of community: very intelligent, capable, kind-natured, accepting and diverse study body.
Recommended, but not HIGHLY recommended.
French American is a very friendly school which offers many different high-level opportunities. One can easily do sports or arts or both! The teachers are also very dedicated and help each student learn.
