I'm currently a senior at Freeport Area High School and I love many things here! The supportive, helpful teachers are always willing to help all students with whatever they may need, even outside of their classroom. Freeport High School offers many classes and each class I've taken has been beneficial and important to help me with my future career, and I've learned so much through my years here. The students here are very supporting of one another and always helpful, I've seen so many people doing good for others and always wanting to help out. From the academics, teachers, students, and services Freeport high school offers, this school is the best I could possibly imagine for myself.
My overall experience with Freeport Area Senior High School has been average. I find the science program to be excellent with very dedicated teachers, but nothing stands out besides that. The student body is just average, with some excellent students but many below average students. My largest issue with this school is the small-mindedness. It's situated in a small town, but I really wish it had a more welcoming environment. I hear slurs being called out in the halls on a regular basis, and many students don't even try to hide their prejudice against others. Even at a school that isn't very diverse, discrimination in any form should not be tolerated. The largest issue with this school is the ideology. They won an award in the 90s and decided that they need to keep doing the same thing. In a rapidly evolving world, you have to evolve with it in order to not be left behind. This is something that Freeport does not understand, and will never understand if they don't adapt.
My experience at Freeport Area Senior High School was outstanding. All of the teachers I had were very nice to me and I was able to learn new things from them. Their education system is amazing and they do a great job with that. The one thing that needs to change is the AC. The school is super hot in the summer and spring and I would have to wear tank tops and shorts to school. When it is winter, it gets cold in the building. Next is that they just need to rebuild part of the high school, like the gym. The school has been around for decades and I feel like we need an upgrade. Other than that, Freeport Area Senior High School is a great school to go to. I have made a lot of friends there since kindergarten at Freeport. I am glad that I was able to go to this school. I will miss it very much when I graduate this year.
