While I do love Freedom and value my experience there, there are many important issues that must addressed within the school. The school is plagued with discrimination from administration towards students and other faculty. Black and Muslim students are often sent home from school for wearing ethnic hairstyles and religious head coverings despite Virginia law prohibiting schools from doing such. This discrimination frequently disrupts the learning process and discourages students from wanting to attend school. Otherwise, the school is very welcoming of diversity, being what we like to call a "majority-minority" school. Many teachers are loving and accepting to students of all backgrounds, race, religion, sexuality, etc. There are a plethora of activities for students to lead and participate in, creating a familial relationship between students, coaches, and teachers.
I love Freedom High School! I have spent 3 years so far during my high school years. I am about to finish my fourth year there. I loved the people and environment it had given me so far. One thing so far that I would change is the classes. There. is not many classes I would have loved to take but Freedom High School did not offer. I wished to experience more classes. However, I did love the school. As I spend my education in there. For example, I had taken my time to take many extra activities like Tennis, Softball, and Clubs.
Freedom High School has basic classes which I wish they would add more interesting classes that other schools around the county have a bunch of classes and programs. However, the clubs in the school aren't too active with their activities due to the pandemic, they reduce the number of clubs. The diversity in that school seems not too fair because the majority of students are African Americans, Hispanic/Latino, and very few white. Most students have been trouble, such as picking fights at school during the cafeteria and smoking weed. Even though, the students have free lunch at school; the food makes distasteful to some students or prefer not to eat sometimes. Consequently, the school culture, sports, music, and arts are very active that show school spirit especially the band club participate their music at the cafeteria, so students can watch their performance. The sports try their best to win during their games; some sports that this school don't have compared to the other schools.
