Franklin Regional Senior High School Reviews

Franklin offers a variety of AP and dual-enrollment college classes, which help with prepping for college, but there seems to be a large push for students to go to college instead of entering the workforce or attending trade school, despite the school's VoTech program. I also feel that students should be required to take more fine or practical arts courses. Students only need 1 credit of fine or practical arts to graduate, which means that most students will take 2 semester-long courses and never set foot into any of the art, music, or FACS rooms again. These classes teach students time management, teamwork, and life skills. The student body is not diverse and tends to form cliques.
I enjoy attending school at my high school. The teachers seem very knowledgeable in their field on the subjects they teach. They are always very helpful if someone is trying hard to understand a certain subject and are willing to help the students achieve a good grade. The Math Department stays after school for open seminars and sessions . There is also time in the day to do homework and or class work around out lunch time so students can see their teachers if needed. There are so many extracurricular activities to choose from. There is not only sports but many clubs to choose from. I was in the marching band for two years and in softball for three years. I made some good friends there that I will always cherish. The school district is one of the top school districts in Pennsylvania. If anyone is ever moving to the city of Pittsburgh with children I would suggest this school district above many others.
Overall pretty decent. There are many classes to choose from that are less common in high school as they are college level classes such as Organic Chemistry. Does not really prep you for college though. Decent athletics, especially in baseball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, and track and field. Football team is not what you want to come here for and there is no Boys volleyball team. Big band school as well. Tons of clubs with everything under the sun and it’s pretty easy to make a club if you can’t find a preexisting club. School is pretty run down though, only the main gym is in good shape, needs renovations badly especially to fix the leaks. Decent overall and due to better academic opportunities, a very good choice.
