I've been at Francis Parker for nine years, from 4th grade to 12th, and overall I've had a positive experience. The academics, especially English and Science, are very well developed and successfully challenge students to study hard and succeed. The school does a very good job preparing students for college and offers them many opportunities and resources to help them get into the right school. While I have had a few complaints about the administration and student support programs, the faculty and staff are truly interested in what you have to say and passionate about what they do.
Parker is your typical west coast private/college prep school. Despite the fact that it preaches diversity and inclusion, Parker suffers from a lack of diversity in pretty much every area. The majority of students are white or Asian, upper class, and liberal. The new high school administration is a complete disaster, and is making a multitude of changes that have not gone over well with students and faculty, one of which is shoving an “advisory” period down everyone’s throats. I’m sure the Heart of Campus project will be beautiful— if it ever gets done. I think they’ve postponed the end date 3 times now?
Despite my numerous grievances with Parker, I can’t deny the strength of some of their teachers and faculty. Unfortunately, many of the best teachers are being pushed out by the admin or leaving voluntarily because of their distaste for the direction the school is heading in.

The school has great vision & has implemented an impressive strategic plan regarding academics, character development, equity and diversity, and more. They truly believe that even the best can be made better. Their commitment to diversity is what sold us. The school is committed to bringing in kids from all socio-economic backgrounds and diverse ethnicities and nationalities. Forget the stereotypes that you often think of when it comes to private schools; this place is different (especially at the current k-5 level). They practice what they preach. It’s not perfect, but the school also recognizes where they need to make improvements, and they’re working on it.
