Over the years Reitz has changed dramatically in allowing students to express themselves. When I first started at this school, excitement ran through me since I would finally have some freedom when it came to dress code, but I was sadly mistaken as the rules had been tightened. Individuality had almost become extinct as I reached senior year, but to my surprise the administration sympathized for us, finally the student body could see color in classrooms again. Jean Fridays became a thing as well as new policies on the types of shirts and color of pants we could wear, leaving room for creativity. Reitz is an ever changing institution that wants their students to feel and look their best. Although they have to change with the school corporation they still advocate for students. Few schools today listen and hear their students out on what can make each day better and more comfortable for them, luckily for me Reitz did just that.

At Reitz, there’s so many different opportunities for you to find yourself. I mean, really find yourself. The teachers see you as a person, not a part of their job. With my experience, the classroom has always been an extremely unique environment. Each teacher has their own special way they connect with us, and that is one of the reasons I love Reitz. It’s not difficult to find a club or group that you belong in because there are so many different people. The teachers and faculty really care about what they’re doing and it shows. It makes me want to be at school and want to learn, and I think that’s really a huge part of high school. I haven’t experienced “senioritis” because school isn’t an obstacle that I dread. I look forward to learning and discovering new things about myself that I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I really recommend Reitz to anyone unsure about where they want to attend high school.
At F.J. Reitz High School, I have seen many oppurtunities for students. I have been a student here for 4 years now and have been involved in many things. The sports programs are very well put together and have good to average teams, but these programs take away from the arts. Music, art, and theater suffer from the funding loss that comes with these average sports programs. All of the arts are forced to do individual fundraisers and while the sports programs have all the funding they could ever need.
