My experience attending the Fox Cities Leadership Academy has been unforgettable. For the longest time they have promoted project based learning, which is definitely incorporated, but it doesn't state everything about them. We do many projects throughout the year, working in groups and individually, but it's about leadership and owning your work and who you are. You are only going to get out of it as much as you put into your work. Starting freshman year we have created a portfolio showcasing our leadership qualities based on 14 different traits. I love the style of learning and how the teachers teach and prepare you with the necessary skills to take with us beyond high school.
What I like about the Fox Cities Leadership Academy is that the school district is very traditional and involved. The district is involved in community activities such as, fundraisers, parades, dances, farmer's markets, and many other co-curricular events. I also like the attention given by the teachers. The teachers always make sure to include the students and they always make sure the students understand the content they are learning. This is because they genuinely want the best for all of their students.
If there is one thing that I would change about the Fox Cities Leadership Academy, it would be for the administrators to reach out a little more to the minorities within the community. I know I stated that our district is very involved and anyone of any race can join within the community activities, however I feel because I am a minority, it is harder for our diverse people to come out of our comfort zone more.

I like the dual credit classrooms and the sense of informality between teacher and student. I've always disagreed with the unspoken stigma that the teacher is higher than the student, and I like having a more personable relationship with my instructors. It makes me feel respected and valued. I haven't had the best social experience, as most of the students in my grade don't talk to me often. It has never been a huge issue, as most of the classes at FCLA are multi-level classes, but it becomes a pressing problem when we have to team up or group up for projects or other group activities within our grade level.
