Chapter One: The Freshman Experience

On this semester-long journey of self-discovery, freshmen are urged to become their own open book and embrace Mark Twain's sage advice: "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."

The best investment you will ever make is in the education of your child. You will not regret choosing FVS. The school offers academic rigor in an environment that embraces compassion & acceptance. My 2 children attend FVS - just a few words of praise include pride, kindness, challenge, diversity, individual growth, recognition, lifetime friendships. The sense of community amongst staff, students and parents is powerful. FVS offers diverse curriculum, global & cultural awareness, exposure to international students, endless learning opportunities in and out of the classroom. Classes are small. Educators are approachable & interactive. The staff really care. Counseling and support, whether in regard to college admissions or just being a teenager, is outstanding. Sports/activities are vast, from hockey to volleyball, theatre to pottery, equestrian to an on-campus world-class climbing gym. For day students and boarders, the opportunity to attend FVS shouldn't be missed!

As a parent of two FVS alumnae, I can’t say enough positive things about the school. It provides superb academics, excellent after school activities and many other programs which broaden its students horizons in all kinds of ways. FVS is a supportive community in which faculty and staff care deeply about the students and go out of their way to provide an exceptional growth experience. The school is demanding without being too stressful and assistance is always available if needed. The boarding environment provides opportunities for leadership and a step towards independence - with lots of positive adult guidance. I am familiar with lots of schools and Fountain Valley is my favorite by far. My daughters absolutely loved it! I wish there were more schools like it.
Fountain Valley has been a wonderful experience for our son. We would recommend it highly to anyone. The school provides a unique opportunity for personal growth -- in the classroom, in extra curricular activities, and socially. All students are able to, and are encouraged to participate and are provided opportunities to challenge themselves. There is no comparison between FVS and our local public school where the vast majority of kids get little to no attention. There is also no comparison to other private schools -- the FVS people, place, and program are one of a kind, and terrific!
