I think Fossil Ridge High School is an excellent high school in Poudre School District. There is great access to technology and other resources for education. There are many ways in which students can get involved with Fossil Ridge as well. Whether that be joining a sport or participating in one of many clubs we have. Overall, it is a fantastic school kids in the district are able to attend.
FRHS has stepped up during Covid to make sure my kids are okay. Individual teachers reach out regularly to offer extra help and just “check in.” Never in a million years did I expect such personal attention from such a huge school!
Excellent facilities and most if not all teachers enjoy their work which is shown in the quality of the teaching. However the counseling department leaves much to be desired. They do little for college preparation and care less about creating a great experience for the individual than they care about making blanket presentations about mental health.
It is a safe environment for learning and the staff is helpful and prepared. I enjoyed being a part of clubs and sports teams.
I really liked the opportunities. I was in NAHS, NHS, and even a Christian club for bible study. I lettered know academics and art due to these organizations.
Fossil Ridge is a very welcoming school! I was a new student when entering my junior year and the students were so kind! Their basketball program is very strong and helped me improve my game and leadership skills! I love being a leader on a strong team and in a family environment! Although I love most everything about Fossil Ridge, there are a few things I would love to change. Not all, but some staff are not very friendly. When I was new, some of the staff did not seem welcoming to ask any questions to, but they were amazing teachers! The education and teachers made me prepare a lot better for college and I am excited to get my degree!!
I've attended 3 almost 4 years at fossil ridge! Fossil Ridge has not only benefited my education but has also made me the person I am today. Fossil has many teachers who care about you in ways that are hard to explain. Fossil is also very accepting of all who wish to attend there! I would highly consider attending Fossil Ridge high school! SKO' Ridge
My 4 years at FRHS has been good. There are a lot of clubs and activities that you can get involved in and they have many sports. I especially enjoyed doing DECA and going to Sports Club to just sit and talk about sports. The classes were hard, but it was a good education
I really enjoyed going to Fossil Ridge. I believe that they have done a great job giving me and other students a great education. They work really hard to make get people involved in school activities. Teachers and staff were very friendly and nice to be around.
Fossil Ridge gave me a good high school experience overall there were just some small things that made it difficult to enjoy. The school is very large which was personally hard for me but I think some of the staff is amazing and really truly cares for the students which I think is important.
Fossil Ridge has given my child an excellent education and social experience. I would like to see their AP courses taught with a bit more precision/direction.
I really like Fossil. The diversity is amazing, and there are so many activities and clubs to choose from. It's super easy to get involved and very nice to meet new people with your same interests.
Very inclusive and full of educational and fun opportunities to foster student interest in STEM subjects and the arts.
Fossil is, in many ways, a good public high school. It is large and lacks diversity because Fort Collins is not that diverse. There was a really good variety of courses and the teachers were really good. When I started there, I'd planned to be a part of music and theater. Unfortunately, I found that department a bit cliquish, but they do a great job with all their concerts and productions. I had a great experience with the Art Department. The art teachers really re-ignited my passion for creating art. They went out of their way to encourage and support me. This spring semester 2020 was hard because of the Corona virus shut down in Colorado. What I missed most was the opportunity to say goodbye to the art teachers.
Fossil Ridge High School gave me all the tools I needed to succeed during my time there, and beyond. The teachers and staff supported the students dreams and projects, always urging us to be better and do better. The only criticism would be the lack of diversity represented in the staff. There are very few teachers of color, within the entire district there is a lack of representation.
I loved my time at Fossil, as I’m graduating this year, but it is certainly a place where you either thrive or you don’t. It’s quite competitive and I’ve heard from friends it really prepares you for college, but it’s not very diverse and quite cliquy. I joined a lot of clubs and activities which made my time great and I feel ready for college.
Best high school in Colorado. Really amazing staff members and students with kindness, and passion with about each unique interests. I would recommend fossil to everyone. Best high school in the world.
